Smoothie of the week – Maca and almond butter smoothie

This week’s smoothie is so good it can easily be a desert. It is so sweet and creamy and jet really good for your body and fills you with vitamins and healthy fats. Like any other smoothie it is super easy to make and for me this one is a perfect weekend treat.

You will need:

2 large ripe bananas

1 table spoon of almond butter (I used Lithuanian one called Sviestas Sviestuotas)

1 table spoon of maca powder

0.5 tea spoon of vanilla extract

1 cup of almond milk

Peel and chop bananas, add almond butter and maca powder, add almond milk and vanilla. Blend everything together until everything is smooth and creamy. If you like your smoothies really thick add less milk.

Voila your delicious desert smoothie is done! :)

This smoothie contains almond butter which is perfect source of fat and there is no need to be afraid of fat, since fat from almonds are natural, not trans fats. Almonds are also a very good source of iron, calcium and fiber.

Maca powder is considered as one of the super foods. Maca is actually a root vegetable found in South America and been known to locals for thousands of years. In many cases maca powder is raw and suitable for raw vegans, since root is dried and then powdered.

Maca powder is full of vitamins such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, sulfur, and iron. This super food acts like natural energy booster so adding it to your morning smoothie is perfect way to get more energy in the morning.

Maca may help for people with skin problems like acne and blemishes and also regulates mood swings, especially during THAT time of the month :)

Hope you will try this delicious goodness!

Enjoy! x
